University of Pennsylvania, New Bolton Center
Brinjac assisted the University of Pennsylvania in an extensive utility infrastructure upgrade at the New Bolton Campus in East Marlborough Township, Chester County. The project included underground electric and telecommunications facility installations, roadway and parking lot improvements, and stormwater management facility installations and modifications. The project required innovative electrical engineering, telecommunications engineering and civil engineering designs.
The stormwater improvements required Township review and approval and an Individual NPDES permit from Chester County Conservation District due to the campus’s location within the White Clay Creek watershed. Topographic Survey and Geotechnical Engineering services were required to determine the appropriate locations for facilities to enhance the water quality of the stormwater runoff. Red clay soils are predominant in the area and restricted infiltration. The stormwater design incorporated rain gardens with native species and amended soils to capture and treat stormwater runoff from the site. Brinjac’s work included design, construction documents, specifications, cost estimates, bidding assistance, and construction administration assistance.
