The Wistar Institute
The objective of this project was to enhance the final operational performance of the Wistar Institute, 230,000 SF Facility. The project included two distinct components: the first was a new vivarium that will occupied 20,000 SF of existing and new space in the basement and ground floor of the CRB. The existing fit-out was demolished and reconfigured as a barrier vivarium using separate clean and dirty corridors, with distinct holding and procedure room suites between them. Spaces for cage wash, storage, locker rooms, mouse genetics lab and imaging suite are included. A mechanical room was created on the existing 3,000 SF mezzanine level and included mixing valves and related vivarium mechanical equipment. The second component involved the construction of a new 89,700 GSF research tower. The mechanical systems in the new tower are neutral air chilled beam systems.
