Temple University, Science Education and Research Center

Temple University’s Science Education and Research Center (SERC) is comprised of seven levels and a basement, as well as an open lobby area with a two-story atrium connecting a new corridor to the existing College of Engineering and College of Science & Technology to the new SERC facility. The biology, chemistry, physics, computational science and computer information science departments will be located here. The building includes various highly flexible research labs and support spaces, classrooms and lecture halls, specialized research labs, including high-bay labs and clean room facilities, offices and administrative space, public gathering and informal interaction spaces.

Brinjac Engineering is responsible for the design of general ventilation/HVAC systems, electrical power and distribution systems, which include accommodation for heavy power and data requirements, fire protection and fire suppression systems following the latest codes in coordination with Temple University’s Technical Standards and Guidelines. Brinjac is also responsible for coordinating the University’s in-house telecommunication design and incorporating this system with the overall construction documents.
