George Mason University, University Commons
Brinjac was responsible for HVAC and domestic hot water commissioning services for the replacement of the HVAC systems in the 108,000 SF University Commons Residence Hall Renovations at George Mason University. The renovation of the University Commons facility revitalizes a complex of buildings into a welcoming and comfortable area for freshmen and sophomore residents. The centrally-located complex of seven residence halls and a commons building, University Commons is a valued resource for the students of George Mason University. All of the buildings have been extensively renovated to attain a similar level of quality as the newly constructed residence halls nearby.
A new addition to the central Hanover Hall includes a new multipurpose room and classroom space which now provides formal and informal spaces for students to gather. The multipurpose room provides opportunities for social and academic communities to collaborate, perform, or simply relax. The existing building has been reconfigured to create an open, light-filled recreational lounge, dining area, and public kitchen. Renovated offices and a seminar room will support expanded academic program in the building.
