Cross Pointe Fire Station
The Cross Pointe Fire and Rescue Station is a state-of-the-art facility serving as a flagship for sustainable design in the Fairfax region. Brinjac provided MEP, fire protection and fire alarm construction administration services and commissioning services to replace the engineer of record during the construction phase of this new fire station. The station required 24 hour operation of facilities, including four drive-through apparatus bay, hose tower, day room, kitchen, dormitory facilities, and limited office areas. Crosspointe Station was commissioned as a pilot LEED project for Fairfax County with a goal of Silver certification. Natural daylighting, passive solar heating, recycled materials, and advanced engineering systems all contributed to a 25.4% total energy-use reduction. Brinjac assisted in documenting design and construction credits for the LEED® submittal. The project attained LEED Gold® certification, surpassing the client’s goals.
