Cleve J. Fredricksen Library
Brinjac provided engineering design services associated with the construction of this new 37,000-sf, two-story structure, which houses storage and shelving space for a collection of 105,000-volumes offering print, video, compact disc and audio tapes. The library features spacious, well-lit areas for reading, research and browsing with seating for 145, and houses a large multi-purpose room for meetings and seminars and enhanced computer workstations. Brinjac provided design of HVAC systems for humidity control and air filtration, a high efficiency gas-fired modular hot water boiler, a 100-ton roof mounted air-cooled electric chiller, air handling units, air distribution and zone temperature controls, axial return air fans, exhaust system, and a stand-alone DDC building control system.
Electrical design included new electrical service, underground concrete encased ductbank and underground feeders from utility transformer, underfloor distribution, branch circuit panelboards, receptacles, surge protection, lighting, security, and fire alarm systems. Emergency power design includes battery packs to be utilized for emergency and exit lights. Fire Protection design included a wet pipe automatic sprinkler system, an addressable fire alarm system consisting of a fire alarm control panel (FACP); automatic suppression system and combination audio/visual appliances and double action type manual pull stations. Telecommunications design includes the Structured Cabling System; Cat. 5e cabling for voice and data, fiber optic risers, voice multi-pair risers; CATV distribution system, zoned paging system, key-type telephone system, telecommunications grounding and bonding system, and telecom cable tray and pathways system.
