Rehabilitation Hospital
Brinjac Engineering, Inc. provided the MEP, fire protection and lighting engineering services for the 3 story, 56-bed rehabilitation hospital addition to the existing healthcare facility.
The mechanical design consisted of a 4-pipe, chilled water/hot water system utilizing VAV air handling units and VAV boxes w/ reheat to condition the space. Pressurization control and HEPA filtration on the exhaust was required for the Patient Isolation Room. For the Aquatic Therapy space, a packaged, natatorium air conditioning unit was specified to provide the necessary temperature and humidity control. To accommodate the heating and cooling loads of the addition, air cooled chillers and dual fuel boilers were included in the design. The building automation system will tie into the Pinnacle Health System control network.
The electrical design specified a new 15 KV feeder, pad mounted switch and transformer adjacent to the building. The emergency power system included 3 automatic transfer switches and a 450 KW emergency generator.
The lighting engineering services provided for energy efficient T8 linear fluorescent fixtures and emergency lighting. Decorative fixtures were specified for the atrium/entry/lobby areas, gift shop and café.
The plumbing design included a new 4 in. domestic service and associated metering, a new hot and cold domestic water distribution system, storm drainage, natural gas and medical air, vacuum and oxygen systems.
