Pedestrian Screening Vestibules Brinjac provided mechanical, electrical, fire protection, lighting, security and structural design, as well as physical security consulting services in conjunction with the design of pedestrian screening vestibules for the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. Brinjac designed ballistic and blast resistance vestibules including X-rays, access control systems and metal detection of pedestrian pathways for 1500 bank employees.
The intent of the project was to provide a Level 4 ballistic resistant environment for the routine screening of all employees and visitors to the 850,000-sf building. Vestibules each include an isolated guard s room and four (4) sallyports with integral magnetometers and adjacent x-ray screening equipment.
The project also included the design of a multi-media exhibit space adjoining the building s atrium, exterior sign pylons and a tensile membrane entrance canopy.
In conjunction with planning for the vestibules, Brinjac developed various schemes for flow of people and materials in and out of the secure areas, which eventually formed the basis of the final plans. We evaluated suppliers of prefabricated structures and assemblies that would provide not only ballistic resistance but blast protection as well.
Brinjac's services began with conceptual design and continued through construction.
