Metro Bank Park

Brinjac Engineering provided full M/E/P, structural and civil/site design for a $45 million makeover of Metro Bank Park, a city-owned minor-league baseball stadium in Harrisburg, PA. The stadium will include a new administrative building, home and visitor lockers, concourse, concessions, rest rooms, suites, and Club Lounge facility. Structural services include the design of caisson and foundations, concourse support, and structural steel support for buildings. Foundations below flood level are designed to withstand a 100-year flood. MEP design includes new heating and cooling systems, new electrical power, telephone, and cable television. The building is fully sprinkled with a combination wet-dry pipe sprinkler system.
The civil/site design includes all permitting, including application for joint permit through the Department of Environmental Protection for a facility located within the flood plain. New routing of storm and sanitary sewer system to existing mains was also included in the design. The existing sewer pumps have been evaluated for capacity and will be reused, and new connections to the existing City Island water system will be established.
The first phase of the project will include the following:
- A public plaza and entrance, which will be constructed along the left-field corner of the ball park
- An 8,600-square-foot operations building
- A new outfield wall with LED boards and advertising panels
- New scoreboards
- Field and drainage improvements in the outfield
- A boardwalk surrounding the outfield
- New seating area and outfield board in left field
Second-phase improvements will include:
- Construction of 20 suites with glass walls
- New lighting configurations
- A new sound system
- A midway area with activities and specialty areas aimed at children, teenagers and families
- A new press box
- Increased seating for about 6,000 (for a total of 10,500-seats)
- Construction of a reserved parking area
- Field-level brick pavers
- New concessions and restrooms
