| BRINJAC ENGINEERING, Inc. (BRINJAC) provided exterior and interior lighting design for this surgery and leased medical office facility. As day turns to night, the building changes dramatically as the deep green tinted windows that obscure inward views throughout the day reveal a brightly illuminated interior. As a visitor rounds the building, they discover a unique glass canopy. High pressure sodium well lights highlight the mustard colored split-face block wall. The reflected light from the wall provides a comfortable level for the adjacent sidewalk. 35-watt metal halide, wide distribution floodlights with glare shields light the sides of the external structure and glass canopy while 35-watt tight spot metal halide fixtures were integrated above the canopy to uplight the front of the external structure. Upon entering the building, a continuous slot of light washes the columns and defines the boundary of a sculptural element that extends up into the 3.5 story rotunda. Carefully placed downlights create a calm, inviting atmosphere for the clinical lobbies, while custom-designed 42" diameter glass pendants highlighted with cold cathode reinforce the architectural nodes in the corridors. |
