Brinjac Engineering Aids Pakistan with Wastewater Treatment System Design

For Immediate Release

Harrisburg, PA - Brinjac's Senior Vice President, Dr. Vikram M. Pattarkine, recently provided technical guidance to the Government of Punjab, Pakistan in providing basic urban services in the southern Punjab province. Wastewater treatment systems were designed to service several cities and towns across the country, including Multan.

Dr Pattarkine, an International Sewage Treatment Specialist, visited the site at Multan in September 2007 to review the design prepared by the local engineers and conduct meetings with their design team. One of the main objectives of the project is to reduce the total land requirement of the wastewater treatment ponds without major mechanization, related operational and maintenance costs, resettlement requirements, and environmental implications. Upon due review, the design was found to be appropriate and is expected to meet the removal requirements of biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), the main water quality parameter of concern.

Dr. Pattarkine has extensive international consulting experience including technology transfer and capacity building. He has conducted numerous workshops and courses, as well as authored various technical publications. He has also co-authored a handbook on environment statistics published by the Asian Development Bank for use by statisticians in the Bank's Developing Member Countries.
