(Harrisburg, PA) - Brinjac Engineering, Inc., one of Pennsylvania's leading engineering firms, was presented with two, 2002 Diamond Honor Awards, as well as two, 2002 Diamond Awards for Engineering Excellence by the Consulting Engineers Council of Pennsylvania (CEC/PA). The awards recognize the contributions of Pennsylvania consulting engineering firms for enhancing the social and economic welfare of the Commonwealth and its citizens.

"These awards recognize Brinjac Engineering for their exceptional design services and outstanding coordination with the Department of General Services," John Van Natta, executive vice president of the CEC/PA, said. "The awards also reflect the dedication and professionalism Brinjac demonstrated by meeting and exceeding their clients' needs."

The CEC/PA presented James L. Seibert, P.E., RCDD, telecommunications team leader for Brinjac Engineering, with the Building Services Diamond Honor Award for the telecommunications technology system installed in the 940,000 square foot Keystone Building located in downtown Harrisburg. Home to a variety of government agencies, the Keystone Building required a communications system that was redundant, resilient, highly available, flexible, state-of-the-art and could service and meet the needs of multiple agencies and tenants of the new building. The result was a Building Network Utility uniquely unified and homogenous to network among multiple using agencies, centrally maintained and administered, and very flexible to accommodate changes.

The Energy Diamond Honor Award was presented to Shawn D. Good, E.I.T., L.C., engineer for Brinjac Engineering, for the installation of a state-of-the-art lighting system also in the Keystone Building. The lighting system required the creation and integration of the system into the architecture, providing the flexibility a modern office requires, while blending into the historic fabric of the Pennsylvania State Capitol Complex. Brinjac designed the lighting system to be highly energy efficient, environmentally friendly and maintenance conscientious.

The firm also received the 2002 Diamond Awards for Engineering Excellence for their New Millennium HVAC System installed in the Keystone Building and the Electrical Bus Duct System installed in the Pennsylvania Capitol.

The Consulting Engineers Council of Pennsylvania works to strengthen the practice of consulting engineering and the 100-plus CEC/PA member firms by enhancing public understanding of the importance of quality engineering to a building project's success. CEC/PA also promotes legislative initiatives and works to enhance professional development.
