| BRINJAC ENGINEERING, Inc's (BRINJAC's) Fire Protection Team worked extensively with the Pennsylvania Department of General Services (DGS) and the Capitol Preservation Committee to design an automatic sprinkler system and fire alarm system project which would protect the occupants and existing decor for the House of Representatives Chamber in the historic Pennsylvania State Capitol Building. The original representatives' desks, designed by John Huston, could not be removed and required careful protection from the construction work. These were "cocooned" in felt carpet padding, polystyrene foam insulation and half-inch plywood. The marble wainscotting and the murals at the front and rear of the Chamber were similarly protected. These efforts prevented damage while maintaining proper temperatures and humidity levels. more |
