Harrisburg Master Lighting Plan
Harrisburg's Mayor Stephen R. Reed commissioned BRINJAC ENGINEERING, Inc. (BRINJAC) to develop a lighting master plan, which is a comprehensive study of the visual environment in the downtown area of Harrisburg. The plan is based on principles of visual communication and basic perception psychology. This project combines the latest in light source technology and research findings into an aesthetically pleasing design that will create a friendly environment for the downtown area.

The streetscape portion of the study analyzes the downtown circulation system, and illustrates how street lighting hardware can establish a sense of hierarchy and clarity which adds safety and a sense of security. Special hardware proposed for the downtown area recalls the historic tradition of Harrisburg. A custom optical package was developed that effectively lights the pedestrian pathways and building facades while limiting "sky glow"
