| The automatic sprinkler system for the facility was designed to protect the structural steel which supported the roof from failure due to a fire. The roof-level systems were equipped with a revolutionary new sprinkler manufactured by Central Sprinkler Corporation which utilized less water, operated at a much lower pressure than existing sprinklers, and only required a single 2,000 gpm fire pump. The fire alarm system consisted of manual fire alarm pull stations, automatic smoke detection and voice communications throughout the building. The voice communications includes manual and automatic operations capabilities to help in crowd control and facilitate smooth egress from the building. Additionally, the system was connected to the computerized score boards to allow the broadcast of pre-programmed messages to hearing impaired members of the audience. |
