Penn State Bryce Jordan Center
Fire Protection System
The Haas/Rosser Fabrap/BRINJAC Joint Venture was hired by the Pennsylvania Department of General Services (DGS) to design a new 15,000 seat athletic, recreation and convocation center for the Penn State Campus in State College, Pennsylvania.

The facility was to be designed in accordance with the requirements of the 1990 Edition of the BOCA National Building Code (BOCA) as enforced by DGS and the Centre Region Code Administration (CRCA). Following an extensive fire safety evaluation, BRINJAC designed the fire protection and life safety systems.

The smoke control system was comprised of roof-mounted fan units sized to exhaust 250,000 cubic feet per minute. This rate of smoke control will maintain the level of the smoke layer at least six feet above the exits to the concourse from the arena bowl.
