BRINJAC's comprehensive engineering design included careful consideration of:
  • CBSD growth rate
  • Network staffing and training requirements
  • Network maintenance
  • HVAC and power
  • Cutover procedures
  • Redundancy and reliability
This project provided a uniform data network, providing Layer 3 services and “intelligent” Layer 2 services on the edge, in order to support future voice over IP and video over IP initiatives. Each WAN link was designed with two Gigabit uplinks, in a redundant “mesh” architecture, with chassis based switches in each MDF and stackable switches in the IDFs. All core and aggregate node switches were provided with redundant power supplies and CPU/switch fabrics; WAN links at the aggregate nodes were split up into different fiber cards to provide additional redundancy and resiliency for the WAN; and 25 chassis based MDF switches were provided on the project.
